2007: MAN JAILED FOR VIOLENT ASSAULTS ON HIS PARTNER
2007: A man responsible for violently attacking his ex-partner at her residence has been sentenced to prison.During the hearing at Liverpool Crown Court, it was revealed that Paul Cunniffe's assault involved kicking Heather Prescott in the groin and repeatedly striking her in the face.
After she was knocked to the ground, and fearing he might have caused her serious injury or death, he placed her in the recovery position and contacted emergency services.
Despite this, Cunniffe, 39 years old and covered in Prescott's blood, then left the scene and went to a nearby McDonald's.
He later explained to police that his violence was triggered by her damaging his television.
This incident occurred just two days following an earlier altercation where he struck her in the face and knocked her down.
Both assaults happened despite a bail condition in place that forbade him from visiting her home on Windermere Road, Leigh.
Cunniffe, residing on Beverley Avenue, Leigh, admitted to charges including wounding, assault, harassment, criminal damage, and breaching bail twice.
He received a sentence of two and a half years in prison and was prohibited from approaching within half a mile of Ms Prescott's residence.
