PAUL BAUMANIS FROM BLACON AND SALTNEY JAILED FOR NEARLY 80,000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local communities of Blacon and Saltney, a man identified as Paul Baumanis has been sentenced to prison after authorities uncovered an extensive collection of illegal and highly disturbing material involving children. The case came to light after police investigations revealed Baumanis’s involvement in the possession and creation of a vast number of indecent images and videos depicting child exploitation.Baumanis, who resides on High Street in Saltney, Flintshire, was brought before Chester Magistrates’ Court in December of the previous year. During the hearing, he admitted to making nearly 80,000 indecent images of children, a revelation that underscored the severity of his actions. The court heard that Baumanis pleaded guilty to four counts related to the production of indecent images and videos of minors, as well as a further count involving the possession of extreme pornographic images featuring animals.
The investigation into Baumanis’s activities was initiated after Cheshire police received intelligence indicating his potential involvement in sharing child sexual exploitation material on social media platforms. Authorities traced his online activity and, on June 1, 2018, executed a warrant at his previous residence located on Western Avenue in Blacon, Chester. During the raid, officers seized multiple electronic devices, including computers and internet-enabled hardware, which were later subjected to forensic analysis.
The forensic examination uncovered a horrifying pattern of abuse. Between October 1, 2007, and June 1, 2018, Baumanis had created a staggering total of 77,433 indecent images and videos depicting children being sexually exploited. Among these were 284 images classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of harm. Additionally, investigators found that Baumanis possessed 13 extreme pornographic images involving dogs, further highlighting the disturbing nature of his offenses.
Following the findings, Baumanis was formally charged with multiple offenses related to the production, possession, and distribution of indecent images. He subsequently pleaded guilty to all charges. His sentencing included a 16-month prison term, reflecting the gravity of his crimes. Furthermore, Baumanis was ordered to register as a sex offender for the next ten years and was subjected to a ten-year sexual harm prevention order. As part of his sentence, he was also required to pay a victim surcharge of £140, ensuring some measure of restitution for the harm caused by his actions.
