MAN JAILED FOR STALKING EX AFTER SHE ENDED THEIR 13-YEAR 'TOXIC' RELATIONSHIP
A woman who endured a 13-year 'toxic' relationship with her ex-partner, who later stalked her, has expressed relief now that he has been issued a restraining order, allowing her to feel secure again.Teana Lynne, 52, revealed it took her considerable time to summon the courage to leave her partner and report the stalking incidents.
She hopes her story will give others hope by showing that there is a positive outcome after such experiences.
Andrew Shelton, 44, a former Chester FC footballer from Blacon, Chester, admitted to stalking Ms Lynne and sending her offensive messages.
He received a suspended jail sentence at Chester Crown Court.
Ms Lynne described feeling frightened by Shelton’s dangerous actions.
After she ended their relationship, he sent her a birthday card stating, 'Enjoy your birthday.
I'll be watching from afar.' She also recounted an incident where Shelton posted a hostile comment on a friend’s social media post about her appearance, telling her to 'die.' This remark, shared by a friend, made her realize the situation could escalate into something more serious.
She characterised their relationship as toxic and narcissistic, filled with emotional highs and lows, where she was often trying to recapture moments from their early days, unaware that those moments had been fabricated.
Shelton was sentenced to 40 weeks in jail, suspended for two years, plus 100 hours of community service.
Additionally, a restraining order prohibits him from entering her hometown in North Wales for a 10-year period.
Ms Lynne, who works as a model and is head of operations at a financial investment firm, expressed her relief at finally having peace and being able to feel safe at home.
She described sitting comfortably with her dogs, feeling secure with cameras monitoring her property, and noticing her dogs have stopped trembling.
