PAUL ALLISON SENTENCED IN OXFORD FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES THAT SHATTERED GIRL'S LIFE

In a case that has shocked the community of Oxford, Paul Allison, a 54-year-old resident of Collinwood Road, Risinghurst, was sentenced to eight years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offences committed against a young girl. The court heard that Allison, who was employed by British Telecom at the time, engaged in a disturbing pattern of abuse that included rape, gross indecency, and indecent assault, leaving a lasting scar on his victim.

Allison pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including three counts of rape, seven of gross indecency, six of indecent assault, as well as making and possessing indecent photographs of children. Despite his admissions, he denied three additional charges of rape, which the court decided to keep on file without a verdict. The prosecution's case was presented by Fiona Horlick, who emphasized the profound impact of Allison’s actions on the victim, stating, “It has affected her very badly.”

The court was told that Allison’s actions were not only criminal but also deeply humiliating and dehumanizing for the young girl, whose identity remains protected. The judge, Patrick Eccles, delivered a stern sentence, emphasizing the severity of the crimes. He remarked, “You stole her childhood from her. You humiliated her by these acts and devalued her humanity. It will take her a long time to recover, if ever she does.”

In his defense, Tony McGeorge acknowledged Allison’s lack of explanation for his behavior, stating, “He cannot put forward any real explanation for why this occurred. All he can do is express his regret and apologise.”

Following the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Steve Birchall expressed gratitude towards the victim for her bravery in coming forward. He praised her strength and dignity in seeing the case through to its conclusion, adding, “These are horrible offences and he got a sentence reflecting that.”
