A 45-year-old man who sent messages of a sexual nature to a girl aged 13 has been placed on the Sex Offenders register for the next three years.

Patrick Ennis - now living in Kelso - committed the offence at a house in Bannerfield Drive in Selkirk between April 24 and May 17.

At Selkirk Sheriff Court he was also ordered to carry out 160 hours unpaid work.
