SWINDON RAPIST PATRICK WILLIAMS GETS LIFE AFTER VICTIM DESCRIBES TRAUMA
A rapist described by his victim as an "evil, depraved creature" was given a life sentence after the judge stated his risk to women was "extremely high".
Patrick Dean Williams, who harbors "toxic, masculine views" about women and aimed for "sexual dominance" by degrading his victims, was unanimously convicted by a jury at Swindon Crown Court of multiple sexual offences.
He has prior convictions for sexual and physical assault against women spanning over 20 years, beginning in 1996.
His latest victim, who spoke about her experience, described it as "incredible trauma" and a "never-ending nightmare".
Williams was found guilty of offences including rape, assault by penetration, and causing a person to engage in sexual activity between January 2016 and May 2017, as well as physically assaulting and strangling his victim until she lost consciousness.
The judge noted his "charming and manipulative" nature, which made him appear sincere, and sentenced him to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 14 years before parole consideration.
He will be on lifelong licence if released.
The police highlighted the victim's courage in coming forward and encouraged others to report sexual offences.
Williams, of Gooch Street, Swindon, demonstrated a pattern of escalating violence and deception, including threats and physical abuse, all aimed at maintaining control over his victims.
