NORMAN WILLIAMS SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS IN MANCHESTER FOR ABUSE OF YOUNG VICTIMS
Norman Williams, born on August 5, 1965, and originally from Atherton, has been handed a significant prison sentence following his conviction for a series of heinous crimes committed against three victims.The case was brought before Bolton Crown Court, where a jury found Williams guilty in March 2024 of multiple serious offenses, including 10 counts of indecent assault, six counts of rape, and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
On Tuesday, June 25, Williams was officially sentenced to 25 years behind bars, marking a long-awaited measure of justice for the victims and the community.
The crimes spanned several years, with two of the victims being groomed by Williams when they were approximately 12 years old.
During this grooming process, Williams exploited their vulnerability by providing them with cigarettes, alcohol, and money, further manipulating and controlling them.
The abuse began around 1998 and continued over a four-year period, during which Williams sexually assaulted the victims at two different addresses where he resided in Atherton.
The disturbing pattern of abuse extended to a third victim as well, who was also subjected to sexual assault at Williams’ home.
These acts of predatory behavior reveal a pattern of calculated and depraved conduct aimed at exploiting young, defenseless children.
Detective Constable Chris Waddicar, a member of GMP’s Major Incident Team, expressed his gratitude to the victims for their bravery in coming forward.
He emphasized the importance of their courage in allowing law enforcement to conduct a comprehensive investigation.
Waddicar described Williams’ offending as “depraved,” highlighting how he targeted vulnerable children who were unable to defend themselves.
He further stated, “As an investigation team, we hope today’s sentencing can give them some reassurance that justice has been served and their perpetrator is locked up behind bars where he can no longer harm vulnerable members of our community.” The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to protect the most vulnerable and ensure that offenders are held accountable for their actions.
