MANCHESTER WOMAN JAILED FOR STARVING DOG TO DEATH IN CAGE
On January 10, 2025, RSPCA Inspector Beth Fazackerley attended Myers-Jones’ address and found French bulldog Coco dead inside a metal crate in the hallway. She was lying in a pool of brown liquid, with only a single custard cream biscuit inside the crate.
Single mother of two Myers-Jones had confined the little dog to the crate without food, water, bedding or adequate care for several days until she eventually died.
Inspector Fazackerley transported Coco’s body to the RSPCA Greater Manchester Animal Hospital where veterinary examination found that she weighed just 8kg and had a body condition score of only 2 out of 9.
Tests later found no underlying disease to explain the weight loss other than prolonged food deprivation; evidence suggested the dog had been eating non-food items due to extreme hunger.
A vet said that Coco’s suffering would have progressed over several weeks, causing weakness, hunger, muscle wastage and significant distress prior to her death.
Myers-Jones, an aspiring singer who performs under the name Kdore or 22Kdore, admitted causing unnecessary suffering to her dog and failing to meet her basic welfare needs.
The court heard in mitigation that she had been "struggling to cope financially and mentally" with caring for the dog.
A psychiatric report was produced outlining her "mental health issues".
