NORMAN ORMEROD ON THE RUN FROM CLITHEROE POLICE MAY BE IN HULL

In a concerning development, Norman Ormerod, a 45-year-old convicted sex offender from Clitheroe, Lancashire, is currently missing and believed to be on the run from law enforcement authorities. The situation has raised alarms, especially given Ormerod's history of serious offenses involving indecent images of children.

Ormerod was convicted twice, once in 2011 and again in 2015, for creating and possessing indecent images of minors. Despite being under probation supervision and providing an address in Clitheroe, he has not been seen at his residence since August 2. His absence from scheduled probation appointments has prompted police to issue a public appeal for information regarding his whereabouts.

According to Lancashire Police, Ormerod was last spotted in Preston on August 9. Authorities have confirmed that he has links to both Lancashire and Cumbria, but they also suspect he may have traveled further afield, possibly to the North Yorkshire or Humberside regions. The police spokesperson emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “We are continuing to appeal for information about a missing sex offender wanted on recall to prison.”

Law enforcement officials are particularly concerned because Ormerod's disappearance coincides with his status as a wanted individual on recall to prison. His history includes a significant number of indecent images, with reports indicating he possessed over 57,000 such images, including 35 categorized as Category B and over 57,600 in Category C. These details emerged during a court appearance in September 2017, when Ormerod, then 44, was sent to Preston Crown Court from Blackburn magistrates' court. He faced charges related to possessing a vast collection of indecent images of children, and he was scheduled to appear again on September 27 for related matters.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about Ormerod’s current location to contact police immediately. The ongoing investigation underscores the seriousness of his offenses and the importance of public cooperation in ensuring he is brought back into custody and held accountable for his actions.
