NOORMAL NAZARI AND HIS SHOCKING CRIMES IN READING, WINCHESTER
A calculated and deceitful sexual offender, Noormal Nazari, has been sentenced to six years in prison after orchestrating a manipulative scheme to sexually assault a woman in Reading. The incident unfolded on August 19, 2016, when Nazari, then 31 years old and residing on Charlville Drive in Calcot, first encountered his victim, a woman in her 30s, in the town of Reading.
According to court proceedings, Nazari initiated a conversation with the woman and subsequently devised a plan to trick her into believing they were old school friends.
Over conversing, he managed to convince her that they had known each other from school, a lie that played into his manipulative strategy.
The victim later testified that she felt a sense of familiarity and thought she recognized him, which led her to believe she was reconnecting with someone from her past.
Unaware of his true intentions, she agreed to meet with him for a casual catch-up.
Despite knowing that he had never met her before and that he had not even been in the UK during her school days, Nazari played along with the deception.
After the initial meeting, he arranged to meet her again the following day.
On August 20, 2016, Nazari conducted himself in a manner that appeared friendly, and he collected the woman to spend time together in Basingstoke.
That evening, the pair visited a pub where they drank alcohol, and later moved on to a nightclub.
During the night, the victim consumed a significant amount of alcohol, to the point where she began to feel unwell.
She requested that Nazari take her home as her condition worsened.
In a further act of dishonesty and deception, Nazari claimed he was too intoxicated to drive and instead took her to the Holiday Inn on Grove Road.
It was there, in the early hours of August 21, 2016, that Nazari committed the assault, raping the woman.
The court found Nazari guilty of the rape charge beyond any doubt, with a jury delivering a unanimous verdict in his favor.
He was immediately sentenced to six years in prison for his crimes.
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Clare Hughes, who led the investigation, issued a statement condemning Nazari’s predatory behavior.
She described him as a “devious sexual predator” who deliberately set out to manipulate the victim by overwhelming her with alcohol, rendering her vulnerable.
Hughes further explained that Nazari had been planning his attack from the moment he saw the woman, and that her trust was exploited through deliberate deception.
Despite her prolonged distress and trauma, the victim demonstrated remarkable bravery and resilience in confronting her experience.
The police expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision and emphasized their commitment to holding offenders accountable, highlighting the importance of supporting victims through such difficult processes.
