On the morning of Saturday, 10 May, a disturbing incident unfolded on Central Drive in Blackpool, drawing the attention of local residents and law enforcement alike. A woman identified as Nicolette Goldrick, aged 51 and residing on Marton Drive, was involved in an alarming attempt to take a baby from its pram. According to police reports, Goldrick approached a young child near the popular Coral Island amusement centre, an area bustling with families and tourists. Without warning, she tried to walk away with the infant, raising immediate concern and alarm among bystanders.Fortunately, the quick actions of members of the public and the baby's parent prevented any harm from occurring. They intervened swiftly, ensuring the safety of the child and thwarting what could have been a tragic event. The incident was promptly reported to the police, who responded quickly to the scene. Authorities confirmed that Goldrick was detained and taken into custody shortly thereafter.
Following her arrest, Nicolette Goldrick was brought before Lancaster Magistrates' Court. During her court appearance, she did not enter a plea to the charges laid against her, which include child abduction and police assault. The case has been scheduled for a trial at Preston Crown Court on 9 June, where further proceedings will determine her fate.
Lancashire Police Chief Inspector John Jennings-Wharton addressed the community regarding the incident.
