EX-FOOTBALL CLUB CHAIRMAN DENIES SEXUAL ASSAULT AND EXPOSURE CHARGES
A former football club chairman and cabbie has denied sexually assaulting a woman at a wedding and exposing his penis to her.The wedding incident is one of a string of sexual allegations involving a number of different women faced by Nicky O'Connor, all of which he denies.The 35-year-old is on trial at Swansea Crown Court.The alleged offending is said to have happened between February, 2023, and October, 2024, during a period when O'Connor was chairman of Swansea's Plough Colts FC and drove a taxi for the city's Oyster Cabs company.Giving evidence from the witness box for a second day, the defendant described how he and his partner attended a wedding.
He said that during the after-wedding celebrations he drank around seven pints of beer and just under half a bottle of neat gin, and he accepted being drunk.Asked by his barrister Thomas Stanway whether, while at the wedding, he had touched a woman sexually on the buttocks, legs and breasts, and exposed his penis to her, O'Connor said he had not.
For the latest court stories sign up to our crime newsletterGiving evidence, O'Connor also denied exposing his penis to a young woman on a street in Morriston, to a woman in the car park of the Asda supermarket on Swansea Enterprise Zone, and to a woman in the car park of a Swansea One Stop shop while chatting to his boss on the phone.He also denied exposing his penis on High Street in Merthyr while on a lunch break from working in the nearby BT exchange.The court has previously heard that O'Connor has a long history of medical issues with pain, burning sensations, and discharges from his penis and as a result routinely wears shorts for comfort.The defendant was taken through each of the allegations of exposure and said at those times his condition had "flared up" and he was in considerable pain and discomfort as well as on occasions experiencing discharges.He accepted he may well have been scratching himself or moving his shorts because of his "problem down below" but denied intentionally exposing his penis to anyone.O'Connor has previously denied exposing himself to a female fare he had picked up from Wind Street in his taxi, denied trying to kiss a woman in Murton, Gower, denied touching a woman's buttocks in Cwmbwrla Park in Swansea, and denied exposing his penis to a woman and sexually touching her at a sports venue in Morriston.Nicholas Wynford Keith O'Connor, formerly of Caryl Terrace, Plasmarl, Swansea, but now of Waun Fawr, Cwmrhydyceirw, Swansea, denies nine counts of exposure, five counts of sexual assault, and one count of attempted sexual assault.
