LEIGH MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF CHILDREN
A man accused of preying on four children under the age of ten has been sentenced following a series of past abuse offenses.Nicholas Parkinson, age 52, from Leigh, Wigan, received a 13-year prison term during a hearing at Bolton Crown Court on Thursday, March 30.
He was found guilty of eight counts of indecent assault and two charges of indecency with a child.
The court was informed that Parkinson exploited the young victims, all under ten during the incidents, subjecting them to acts of horror.
After an extensive and detailed investigation, Detective Constable Cheryl Williams from GMP’s Major Incident Team commended the victims’ courage and highlighted that Parkinson is now incarcerated, posing no future risk to children.
She stated, “I want to acknowledge the bravery of the victims, who have demonstrated remarkable strength in supporting this prolonged legal process.
While this sentence cannot undo the trauma they experienced as children, I hope they can find some comfort knowing Parkinson is now behind bars for many years and is no longer a danger.
