A man known as “Nicky Chicken” has been sentenced for a series of violent offences against his partner, including throttling her to the point she was unable to breathe.
Nicholas Lewis has a long history of criminal behaviour, with a total of 99 previous offences on his record.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Lewis subjected his partner to multiple assaults throughout June, grabbing, pushing, slapping, and finally strangling her.
He also stole her money, damaged her property, and issued threats.
In one incident, Lewis grabbed the woman by the throat and squeezed for about seven seconds while shouting that they loved each other.
He also smashed ornaments, returned to threaten her friends with a bread knife, and physically assaulted her again by slapping her.
Court documents show he has a past conviction for attacking a previous partner with a spade, which required stitches, and has been convicted of many other crimes including burglaries, ABHs, and possessing offensive weapons.
Despite his criminal history, Lewis’s solicitor attributed his behaviour to a turbulent childhood and drug addiction.
Judge Paul Thomas KC sentenced him to 33 months in prison, with an additional six months of a previous suspended sentence activated, totalling 39 months.
