MAN ASSAULTED HIS PREGNANT GIRLFRIEND AND PUNCHED HER IN THE STOMACH AFTER SHE HAD UNDERGONE A CAESAREAN
A violent offender from Swansea, Nicholas Davies, aged 27, engaged in aggressive and abusive behaviour towards his partner during their five-year relationship. His actions included strangulation, physical assaults, and threats, which intensified after he began using cocaine.
The victim recounted that his conduct worsened with drug use, with incidents such as dangerously swerving his car to endanger her and their children.
Davies's violence involved frequent strangling, slapping, punching, and pushing her, often deleting evidence of injuries by removing her phone.
The initial assault was triggered by a message from a male friend, leading to him forcefully throwing her to the ground, causing rib pain.
She was assaulted again in the bath, and upon discovering her pregnancy, Davies challenged the child's paternity, threatening her during an encounter on a bridge railing.
After the birth of her second son, he violently pushed her into a brick stable and punched her, causing pain post-caesarean.
His cocaine use contributed to increased anger and paranoia, resulting in threats to kill her and attempts at physical restraint.
Their conflicts culminated in a staged car chase, where Davies deliberately collided with her vehicle, pursued her in his car, and threatened her with violence.
The police intervened after she managed to activate her phone's SOS function; Davies was arrested at home amid cannabis possession.
He admitted to charges including coercive behaviour, strangulation, assault, dangerous driving, criminal damage, and drug possession.
The victim’s statement detailed her fear, dependence, and the emotional toll of ongoing abuse, noting her efforts to leave and seek safety.
The court sentenced Davies to three years in prison, disqualified him from driving for three years, and imposed a four-year restraining order.
