NICHOLAS BROWN OF GUILDFORD SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN ASH VALE
In June 2017, Nicholas Brown, a 63-year-old resident of Cypress Grove in Ash Vale, Guildford, was handed a significant prison sentence after being found guilty of heinous crimes involving the sexual exploitation of children.The case, which unraveled through a lengthy and detailed investigation, revealed Brown’s disturbing involvement in the abuse of minors as young as five years old.
Brown faced the court at Guildford Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to a total of seventeen charges.
These included twelve counts related to arranging or facilitating child sex offences, as well as five counts of creating and distributing indecent images of children.
The severity of his crimes and the extent of his malicious activities prompted the court to impose a substantial sentence.
During the investigation, authorities uncovered an extensive digital trail comprising over 600,000 lines of chat communications.
These messages detailed Brown’s disturbing orders and encouragements for the sexual abuse of children in the Philippines.
The investigation revealed that Brown was actively engaged in online conversations with women in the Philippines, many of whom sought financial assistance.
However, these exchanges often took a dark turn, with Brown graphically describing his desire for children to be abused and for children to abuse each other in explicit detail.
Further probing uncovered that Brown not only sought out individuals willing to abuse their own children via webcam but also pursued those willing to help him find children ‘off the street’ for sexual exploitation.
His actions demonstrated a calculated and predatory pattern of behavior aimed at facilitating and encouraging child abuse across borders.
Financially, Brown had sent over £260,000 to the Philippines, funds that were directly linked to the abuse and exploitation of children.
His criminal activities were deemed particularly dangerous, and the judge, His Honour Chapple, classified him as a serious threat to public safety.
As part of his sentence, Brown will serve nine years in prison, with the remaining years on extended license, ensuring continued supervision after his release.
Judge Chapple emphasized the gravity of Brown’s crimes, highlighting the danger he posed to society and the need for a strong custodial sentence to protect the public from further harm.
