NEIL KINSPELLA'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN DUBLIN: SCHOOLGIRLS TERRIFIED BY KNIFE-WIELDING SEX ATTACKER

In October 2000, a man named Neil Kinsella was sentenced to a decade behind bars for heinous crimes committed in Dublin, specifically in the Clondalkin area.

The court heard that Kinsella, aged 25 and residing on Oakwood Grove in Clondalkin, had committed two severe sexual assaults involving minors, which had left the community deeply shaken.

According to court records, Kinsella was found guilty of raping a 10-year-old girl in January of that year and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in March.

Both incidents took place within the confines of Clondalkin, a suburb of Dublin.

The evidence against him was compelling, with DNA samples collected from the crime scenes conclusively linking him to the assaults.

During the proceedings, Mr.

Justice Paul Carney was informed that Kinsella had developed an obsession with internet pornography, which appeared to have fueled his disturbing belief that engaging in sexual intercourse was necessary to alleviate his growing feelings of social and sexual inadequacy.

The court learned that on March 16, 1999, Kinsella had been attempting to track a woman of his own age group online but failed to locate her.

Instead, he targeted a 12-year-old girl, whom he assaulted at knifepoint, causing widespread fear among local residents.

The court also revealed that Kinsella had attempted to take his own life while in custody, leading to his transfer to the Central Mental Hospital for psychiatric evaluation and treatment.

His actions had caused significant alarm in the community, with many parents and residents expressing concern over the safety of schoolchildren in the area.

Mr.

Justice Carney emphasized the severity of the crimes, noting that the community had been terrorized by a man wielding a knife and stalking young girls.

Recognizing Kinsella’s guilty plea at an early stage, which spared the court a lengthy trial, the judge decided to suspend the final 15 months of his sentence, effectively reducing his time behind bars.

Nonetheless, the impact of his crimes remains a stark reminder of the dangers faced by vulnerable members of society in Dublin.
