NEIL JACKSON FROM HOLME WOOD JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND SEX OFFENCES IN BRADFORD AND COUNTY DURHAM
In a case that has spanned nearly a decade, Neil Jackson, a resident of Holme Wood, Bradford, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of serious sexual offences involving children and possession of indecent images. The lengthy legal proceedings revealed Jackson’s persistent attempts to evade justice and his repeated breaches of court orders designed to protect minors from his perverted interests.Jackson, aged 47, who resides at Kelvin House, Danecourt Road, Holme Wood, Bradford, was found to have engaged in a pattern of deceit and illegal activity that included hiding his phone containing indecent images when police officers arrived to search his home. The Bradford Crown Court heard that Jackson had a long history of offending, beginning with a caution in 2010 for possession of an indecent image of a child. His criminal record expanded in July 2012 when he was sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of 18 offences related to similar material.
Following his initial conviction, Jackson was subject to an indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO). However, he repeatedly breached this order, leading to additional sentences, including a three-month imprisonment in 2013. His violations continued over the years, notably in 2015 when he received a suspended sentence for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements. Further breaches occurred in 2017 and again in 2018, demonstrating a pattern of non-compliance and ongoing risk.
The police conducted a search of Jackson’s flat on March 20 of this year. During the search, officers discovered that Jackson had a credit card and a mobile phone that he had failed to disclose. When questioned, Jackson attempted to conceal the phone beneath his sofa and denied that it contained any incriminating material. However, forensic analysis revealed otherwise. The device contained one Category A indecent image of a child, a Category B film clip, and 120 Category C images. The images depicted boys aged between 10 and 15 engaged in sexual activities, highlighting the severity of his offending.
Jackson denied any perverted interest in children during police interviews but admitted that he needed help. He pleaded guilty to possession of indecent images and breaching the SOPO. Judge Jonathan Rose sentenced him to a total of three years and two months in prison. The judge described Jackson’s actions as driven by a “reprehensible” sexual interest in children and criticized his continued pursuit of illegal material instead of seeking voluntary help from organizations that could have assisted him.
Judge Rose emphasized that Jackson had been offending for nearly ten years, engaging in a “cat and mouse” game with law enforcement. His use of a credit card and an unauthorized phone to access and download “sick and perverted” images demonstrated a calculated effort to satisfy his sexual gratification. As a result, Jackson was sentenced to 28 months for possession of indecent images, with an additional ten months to run consecutively for breaching the SOPO.
In a separate but related case from July 2012, Jackson was also convicted of possessing nearly 6,000 indecent images of children while living in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. He was arrested after police received information that he was downloading child pornography from the internet. The investigation uncovered a vast collection of images and videos, which he had stored on his computers and shared via file-sharing software with other offenders. Jackson’s relationship with a woman in Shildon, County Durham, was also revealed; she was the mother of two children and was unaware of his past and his status on the sex offenders’ register following his 2010 caution.
Prosecutor Amanda Rippon told Teesside Crown Court that Jackson had met the woman through Facebook and had stayed at her home regularly for about a year. The police expressed concern that he was residing in a household with children without her knowledge of his criminal background. Jackson admitted to possessing and distributing indecent images and failing to register his address properly. His defense argued that his failure to register was driven by shame and fear of his partner’s reaction, rather than malicious intent.
Judge Peter Fox sentenced Jackson to three years in prison for the possession and distribution of indecent images, emphasizing the devastating impact such abuse has on victims. The judge highlighted that Jackson’s actions contributed to the exploitation and suffering of children, describing his involvement as part of a broader pattern of harmful behavior. Jackson’s criminal record and ongoing breaches underscore the serious threat he poses to the safety of children and the community at large.
