ICE CREAM VAN PERVERT MARTIN LOYNES SENTENCED IN HOLME WOOD AND BRADFORD
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Holme Wood and the wider Bradford area, Martin Loynes, a 55-year-old former ice cream vendor, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses. Loynes, residing on Denbury Mount in Holme Wood, faced a jury that found him guilty of 20 separate sex-related charges after a five-day trial held in July at Bradford Crown Court.Despite his denial of the allegations, the court established that Loynes had committed multiple acts of sexual abuse against young victims, some of which occurred within the confines of his ice cream van. The court heard that Loynes was convicted of raping a girl aged just 12, as well as assaulting a boy on two separate occasions. Additionally, he was found guilty of 17 indecency offenses, some dating back to the 1960s, indicating a long history of predatory behavior.
During the sentencing hearing on Tuesday, Judge Rodger Scott described Loynes’s actions as deeply disturbing, emphasizing that he had manipulated and incited children to act as “lovers.” The judge highlighted that the abuse against one of the children had begun as early as 1964 and persisted over a decade, revealing a pattern of predatory conduct spanning many years.
The court revealed that the victims, a boy and a girl whose identities are protected by law, had been assaulted on multiple occasions inside Loynes’s ice cream van. The judge stated, “They were made to act as lovers by you at a very early age. It was all down to you,” underscoring the calculated nature of Loynes’s abuse.
Martin Robertshaw, representing Loynes, argued that his client was a married man with four grandchildren, and that his wife remained supportive of him despite the allegations. However, the court’s decision was clear: Loynes was ordered to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life. Furthermore, he was prohibited from seeking employment that could grant him unsupervised access to children, in an effort to prevent any future harm.
This case has brought to light the dangers lurking within seemingly innocent community settings and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and safeguarding vulnerable children from predators like Martin Loynes.
