MUNAWAR HUSSAIN BANNED SEX OFFENDER FROM ASHINGTON JAILED FOR REPEATEDLY BREACHING COURT ORDERS

In a case that has raised serious concerns about public safety and the enforcement of court orders, Munawar Hussain, a known sex offender from Ashington, Northumberland, has been sentenced to prison after repeatedly violating a sexual harm prevention order.

Hussain, aged 46, who has a troubling criminal history including convictions for soliciting a woman for prostitution in 2000 and for sexual assault in 2008, found himself back in court due to his blatant disregard for court-imposed restrictions.

The Newcastle Crown Court heard that in November 2020, a five-year civil order was issued against Hussain. This order was specifically designed to restrict his interactions with female passengers and to ensure he disclosed details of any vehicle he owned to the police. The purpose of such an order is to prevent further harm and to protect potential victims by limiting Hussain’s ability to have lone female passengers without prior knowledge of his legal restrictions.

Despite these precautions, Hussain violated the order on multiple occasions. In August of the previous year, he was caught giving a female passenger a lift in his vehicle, a woman who was completely unaware of the existence of the court order. This act was a clear breach, as Hussain had not declared the vehicle to the police, and the woman had no knowledge of his legal restrictions.

He admitted to two breaches related to this incident. However, the violations did not stop there. In April, while still awaiting sentencing, Hussain again gave a female passenger a lift in the same vehicle, who also had no knowledge of the court order. This repeated breach demonstrated a blatant disregard for the legal restrictions placed upon him.

Hussain, who resides on Wansbeck Road in Ashington, Northumberland, pleaded guilty to three separate breaches of the sexual harm prevention order. The court, presided over by Judge Christopher Prince, sentenced him to two years in prison for his repeated violations.

During the sentencing, Judge Prince emphasized the importance of such orders in safeguarding the public. He stated, “You appreciate that orders are made to protect the public by the courts. Protection of the public is a matter very much at the forefront of every court’s mind, at all times and the public must have confidence that the courts are seeking to protect them. You blatantly chose, quite deliberately, to breach a sexual harm prevention order made by the court.”

This case underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement and the judiciary in ensuring compliance with court orders designed to prevent further harm by individuals with a history of sexual offenses.
