NORTHUMBERLAND MAN JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND EXTREME PORNOGRAPHY

A pervert had a disgusting collection of child sexual abuse videos and photos of children as young as two.

Mark Burdis had been downloading the vile material, which also involved extreme porn involving dogs and people, over a two month period at his Northumberland home.

Chike Anieto, prosecuting at South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court, said Burdis downloaded the material between August 31 and October 16 2024.

"Police officers had cause to attend the defendant's address following intelligence about use of a device to upload indecent images of children," Mr Anieto continued.

Devices were seized and, following forensic examinations, these items were found on a device.

There were 17 images and nine videos of category A, eight images of one video of category B and seven images of category C.

There were also 21 extreme pornographic images.

The children involved were between the ages of two and 14 years old.

The court heard that Burdis had no past convictions and claimed he'd been a member of a group exchanging pornographic images of adults and hadn't realised some had been of children.

Jonathan Pigford, defending, said Burdis had two children, was a carer for his partner and suffered from depression.

He added: "I don't know much about the background of this offending.

"He is going to take advantage of what is recommended in the pre-sentence report.

He has suffered trauma in the past, although he will not elaborate." Burdis was given a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, was made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years and must sign the sex offenders register.
