MAN JAILED FOR MORE THAN EIGHT YEARS FOR OFFENCES INCLUDING RAPE
A man received an eight-year and ten-month prison sentence after being convicted of rape and deliberate strangulation in Portsmouth.Momodau Bojang, aged 56 and residing on Bramble Road in Southsea, appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court on Friday, 22 May.
The court sentenced him following his conviction for assaulting and strangling a woman in her 40s in October 2025.
Bojang maintained his innocence and had previously stood trial at the same court on Monday, 16 March.
During the hearing, jurors heard that police were called early on Tuesday, 28 October, after a woman reported that Bojang was preventing her from leaving his residence on Bramble Road.
Police responded, found the woman, and subsequently arrested Bojang, taking him into custody.
In a subsequent interview, she told officers that over several days while staying at Bojang’s home, he had raped her and used force to restrain her.
After a five-day trial, the jury returned a guilty verdict on both counts.
Bojang was sentenced to nearly nine years in prison, with the sentence also taking into account a breach of a previously suspended sentence.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
