MAN JAILED FOR STALKING CRIME COMMISSIONER DONNA JONES
A man described as a 'notorious stalker' who targeted Hampshire’s police and crime commissioner has received a jail sentence.Robert Hood, aged 59 and residing in Southsea, was sentenced to 20 weeks behind bars for harassing Donna Jones, who serves as the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Ms Jones expressed her approval of the court’s decision and referred to Hood as a 'notorious stalker.' She commented: 'The court’s ruling serves as a definitive warning to anyone who thinks they can terrorise their victims, bypass the legal system, and escape punishment.
Robert Hood has persisted in his malicious campaign against me and others, showing no regard for the consequences.
His relentless obsession has caused profound distress to my family, staff, and those he manipulates.
He has disseminated personal details, including my home address, appeared at my workplace with forged warrants intending to detain me forcibly, spread false information to create a circle of obsessive followers, and exploited anyone available to continue his vendetta.
I hope this verdict restores a sense of justice for all who have been intimidated and manipulated.
For the sake of my friends, family, and colleagues, I sincerely wish for this to be the end of his obsession with me and those close to me.' Judge Tanweer Ikram, the senior deputy district judge, delivered the sentence and observed that Hood showed 'no remorse' for his conduct.
During sentencing, Judge Ikram stated: "You have shown a lack of remorse, you struggle to accept your criminality and you are prepared to sacrifice your liberty for your actions.
"Your offence contained elements of sophistication, especially the production of your warrant to the victim.
"I do find that you have imparted harm on the victim and her ability to do her work.
Your conviction here is aggravated by your previous conviction.
You continue to show no remorse."
