A man identified as Momade Jussab has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman during a flight from Doha, Qatar, to Gatwick Airport in West Sussex. The incident took place on September 28 of the previous year, during a time when the aircraft's cabin was dimly lit and most passengers were asleep, creating an environment where the assault could occur unnoticed.According to reports, Jussab, aged 66, was seated directly beside the woman, who was in her twenties. The two had no prior acquaintance before boarding the flight. During the journey, the woman awoke to find Jussab engaging in a sexual assault. Shocked and distressed, she immediately reported the incident upon landing at Gatwick Airport. The woman received support from specially trained officers who guided her through the subsequent investigation, emphasizing the seriousness with which authorities treated the case.
Following her report, police swiftly arrested Jussab. He was charged with one count of sexual assault by penetration and two counts of sexual assault. The case proceeded to trial, where Jussab was found guilty in March. His sentencing took place on May 12 at Lewes Crown Court, where he was handed a significant prison term. The court sentenced him to six and a half years in prison, with the stipulation that he must serve at least two-thirds of his sentence before being eligible for parole. Additionally, Jussab has been placed on the sex offenders register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.
