MOBARAK HUSSEIN FROM SOUTHSEA JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In August 2005, a disturbing incident occurred along the seafront in Southsea involving an asylum seeker named Mobarak Hussein.The 30-year-old, who hails from Sudan and resided on Tredegar Road in Southsea, approached a 12-year-old girl and her five-year-old sister in a public park.
According to reports, Hussein initially engaged the young girl by asking her to get into his car, an act that immediately raised concerns about his intentions.
When the girl refused his request, Hussein did not desist.
Instead, he followed the two children into a nearby park, where he sat down on a bench beside the 12-year-old.
It was during this encounter that Hussein committed a sexual assault on the young girl, an act that has since been described as indecent and deeply troubling.
The girl confided in her mother about the assault, prompting her to report the incident to the police.
Law enforcement officials responded swiftly, leading to Hussein's arrest shortly thereafter.
The case was brought before Portsmouth Crown Court, where Hussein faced charges of sexual assault on a child under 13.
Despite denying the allegations, he was found guilty by the court.
Judge Gareth Cowling presided over the case and sentenced Hussein to 18 months in prison.
During the proceedings, the judge commended the quick and brave actions of the girl’s mother in reporting the incident, which was instrumental in bringing the offender to justice.
Additionally, the judge recommended that Hussein be deported once he completes his sentence.
The final decision regarding deportation will be made by the Home Office upon Hussein’s release.
As part of his sentence, Hussein will be required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years and has been disqualified from working with children.
