DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIM URGES HELP AFTER BRUTAL ATTACK AND IMPRISONMENT
A domestic abuse survivor, Katrina Pidden, 39, faced severe violence and captivity at the hands of her ex-boyfriend Mitchell Liversedge, 25.Her ordeal began after she split from him, but he turned up uninvited at her house, getting out of control. She recounted: "He threw a drink over me so I took myself into the garden to get away from him.
He came flying outside, attacked me, hitting me over the head with the kitchen chair.
He dragged me down the garden by my finger and my finger ended up so swollen that my ring had to be cut off.
I only had a nightie on so my skin was getting scraped on the path.
I thought he was going to kill me."The attack escalated further when Liversedge battered her with a bathroom door, held her captive in her own home in Daventry, Northants, and left her with horrific injuries including a knocked-out tooth.
Her nightmare only ended when a neighbour saw her bloodied and dragging her across the garden, prompting police to intervene. In court, Liversedge was convicted: "He was caged for five years in March for four counts of ABH.
He was also found guilty of one charge of false imprisonment, damaging property, threatening to damage property, and engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship."Katrina has spoken out publicly about her traumatic experience, encouraging others to seek help and escape abusive relationships.
She described her ongoing suffering, including having a false tooth as a reminder of her ordeal and scars she bears daily.
After the incident, she moved home fearing Liversedge’s release from prison and is now receiving therapy for depression, anxiety, and PTSD.She urges domestic abuse victims to seek help and not feel shame: "Just get out, no matter how many times they say they'll change and get help.
They won't and things will just get worse."
