OFFENDER JAILED FOR LIFE IN HEMEL HEMPSTEAD FOR DOMESTIC MURDER
Miroslav Wosik, aged 42, was found guilty of murdering his estranged wife, Bernadeta Jakubszyk, who was 30, at her home in Hemel Hempstead. The court heard that Wosik carried out a knife attack inside her bedroom, which caused her death from two deep stab wounds that punctured her right lung early on 28 May.
Wosik claimed he had no memory of the incident.
Judge Stephen Gullick imposed a sentence of at least 18 years in prison.
After the attack, Wosik told his son Daniel, 'Call the police, let them arrest me.' The jury learned that Ms.
Jakubszyk had also been stabbed once in the head and had cuts on her hands and forearms, suggesting she had fought to defend herself.
Her family expressed their mourning, saying, 'She had many plans and dreams for the future, but the man who was close to her and whom she loved very much took her life.
Respect and love among people are vital.
Domestic violence is like a cancer within families.' The prosecution argued that her life was improving as she met friends and moved forward, but Wosik could not cope with her rebounding happiness and took 'the ultimate revenge.' The killing was categorized as a domestic homicide.
