KINGSWOOD MAN JAILED FOR CONTROLLING BEHAVIOUR AND VIOLENCE AGAINST PARTNER
Millen Cox pleaded guilty to controlling behaviour, possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear and false imprisonment. The court was told that Cox, from Crates Close, subjected his girlfriend to prolonged abuse after their relationship became toxic.
She claimed he held her head underwater and assaulted her when she told him she was pregnant, which led to her having a miscarriage.
Cox, aged 22, was involved in a relationship where he became 'violent and controlling', including head butting her and threatening to break her nose.
He also held her head underwater in a bath and assaulted her when she was pregnant, causing a miscarriage, both incidents he denied.
The court heard that in October last year, Cox collected the complainant from a night out in Bristol and took her to his flat, where he punched, kicked, bit her, slapped her with a BB gun, and told her he would kill her if she left him.
In response to the violence, the complainant made her escape when Cox's friend called him, and she went to a neighbor for help.
Police located Cox in a communal area, used a Taser on him, and arrested him.
Cox gave a prepared statement denying wrongdoing.
The judge sentenced him to 38 months in prison, telling him he would spend his 23rd birthday in custody due to his own actions.
The court ordered the BB gun to be destroyed and imposed an indefinite restraining order banning contact with the complainant.
Prosecutor Gregory Gordon described Cox as a 'violent and controlling' partner and detailed the incidents including headbutting, threats, and accusations about the pregnancy and miscarriage.
Cox's defense argued that the relationship was toxic and he did not object to the restraining order.
The court also considered footage of Cox videoing himself cutting up clothes and flushing them down the toilet.
The article notes that Cox is from Kingswood and that he was involved in a series of violent and controlling acts, leading to his imprisonment.
