MICHAEL CHALK FROM HAVANT SENTENCED TO 11 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AND ANIMAL PORNOGRAPHY

In April 2018, Michael Chalk, a 64-year-old resident of School Lane in Havant, was handed down a significant prison sentence following a conviction for multiple serious sexual offences involving a young girl. The case was prosecuted at Portsmouth Crown Court by Rob Griffiths, where Chalk faced justice for his disturbing crimes.

During the trial, it was revealed that Chalk had engaged in repeated acts of abuse against a nine-year-old girl. The court heard detailed accounts of the abuse, which included sexual activity with a child under the age of 13 and oral rape of the same young girl. These allegations painted a disturbing picture of the defendant’s actions, which spanned several occasions and caused significant harm to the victim.

In addition to the sexual offences, Chalk was found guilty of possessing material of an animal pornographic nature, further compounding the severity of his crimes. The court’s judgment reflected the gravity of his misconduct, leading to a substantial custodial sentence.

Chalk was sentenced to a total of 11 years in prison. The judge also imposed an extended licence period of one year, which means that after serving the initial sentence, Chalk could be subject to supervision and restrictions for an additional year. The judge warned Chalk that he could apply to the Parole Board for early release after serving half of his sentence, but cautioned that there was a real risk he might serve the full term if deemed necessary for public safety.
