MANCHESTER MAN JAILED FOR 8 YEARS FOR DRUGGING AND RAPING ELDERLY WOMAN
Meynard Murambakanda has received an eight-year prison sentence after being convicted of raping a 60-year-old woman at her home in Manchester's Openshaw district.
The crime was committed after he drugged her by spiking her tea.
The incident began when Murambakanda established a connection with the woman through a conversation outside her residence in May 2020.
According to Greater Manchester Police, he gained her trust by acquiring personal details, including her bank PIN.
He then persuaded her to visit his home, during which he secretly administered drugs before assaulting her.
After the attack, Murambakanda took her bank card and withdrew approximately £650.
During the investigation, Detective Sergeant Qadir Hussain commended the woman for her courage and resilience in coming forward, highlighting her strength throughout the ordeal.
The court stated that Murambakanda’s actions were particularly malicious, with authorities criticizing his lack of remorse and emphasizing his dangerous conduct.
The judge sentenced him to eight years for two counts of rape, with plans to deport him once he has served his sentence.
