GP FROM ST HELENS JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT OF VULNERABLE WOMEN
A doctor from St Helens who targeted two vulnerable young women for his own sexual gratification has been sentenced in court.
The 49-year-old GP Maxman Tembo was found guilty of sexually assaulting two women and was acquitted of other charges.
He used his professional position to 'greet and kiss' the victims, and his actions have destroyed his career.
Judge Clement Goldstone, QC, remarked that Tembo targeted the women because of their age, showing no regard for their well-being and only seeking his own sexual gratification.
Tembo, who resides on Marigold Way in St Helens, denied all allegations and identified as a committed Christian and a married man.
Despite his assertions, the judge condemned his conduct, stating he had no respect for Christian principles.
Judge Goldstone emphasized that Tembo's behavior was not consistent with medical professionalism and warned that his chances of practicing again in the UK are very slim.
The court sentenced him to 15 months in prison, suspended for two years, with a supervision order for 12 months, a four-month curfew, 150 hours of unpaid work, and mandatory registration as a sex offender for ten years.
The court noted his bankruptcy prevented him from paying prosecution costs, and his actions have irreparably ruined his reputation and career.
