MAURICIO DORTA VINAS: ST HELENS PAEDOPHILE PLANNING CHILD RAPE AND LINKED TO INTERNATIONAL RING
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of St Helens, Mauricio Dorta Vinas, a 31-year-old man originally from Uruguay, was found to have engaged in highly disturbing conversations and plans involving child abuse and international paedophile networks. The details emerged during a court hearing at Liverpool Crown Court, revealing the extent of his depraved intentions and the dangerous nature of his activities.According to court records, Dorta Vinas had arranged to meet an individual he believed was a father willing to allow him to sexually abuse his eight-month-old son. Unbeknownst to him, the person he was communicating with was an undercover police officer, who had been monitoring his online activities. The conversations, which took place in April and May of this year, contained explicit and obscene content that prosecutors have described as too graphic to publish in full.
Dorta Vinas, who resided at Hopkins Close in St Helens, openly discussed his heinous plans and claimed to have connections to a secret international paedophile ring. During the exchanges, he boasted about traveling to various countries to commit acts of child sexual abuse. He admitted to traveling to London with the intent to rape children of a German friend, including children aged two and five, and described using the date-rape drug GHB mixed with orange juice to incapacitate victims.
He also confessed to traveling to Ukraine with a friend, where he claimed that Arab men paid him to sexually abuse children, including a five-year-old boy, on camera. Furthermore, Dorta Vinas revealed that he had traveled to France and molested a friend's six-year-old brother. His disturbing statements included a desire to come to the home of the police officer to rape his own infant child, which he referred to in vulgar terms.
During the investigation, Christopher Hopkins, prosecuting, stated that Dorta Vinas used the alias 'Taboo' when communicating via the dating app Grindr. He described himself as having 'no limits sexually' and insisted on continuing their conversations on Wickr, an encrypted messaging platform. The police learned that he was the father of an eight-month-old boy, a three-year-old girl, and an eleven-year-old girl, all of whom he found 'hot,' according to his own words.
In a chilling admission, Dorta Vinas expressed his desire to create a 'pervert family' and explicitly stated that he was sexually aroused by babies. He even sent a photograph of his erect penis to the officer and detailed violent fantasies involving drugging and abusing children. He claimed to have traveled to Kiev in 2018 to produce videos of child abuse and invited the officer to join him, suggesting a shared twisted interest.
He also recounted an incident in Blackpool, where he observed two children, approximately five years old, in a McDonald's toilet, and stated that he would have raped them if given the chance. On May 14, Dorta Vinas met the officer at a Costa Coffee in St Helens to verify his identity, during which he claimed that his German friend was part of a paedophile ring. He described a horrifying encounter in Kiev involving strip searches for listening devices, followed by being taken to a house where children and babies were raped and filmed, with the footage sold for profit. He also claimed that his German friend had been offered $100,000 to take his children to Ukraine.
The following day, on May 15, as he was en route to the officer's residence, Dorta Vinas was arrested at a junction he believed was near his home. He refused to unlock his phone, declined to comment during police interviews, and later claimed that his statements were merely fantasies, denying any actual abuse. Despite this, the court found his online communications and admissions to be indicative of a dangerous and predatory individual.
During the hearing, Dorta Vinas appeared via video link from HMP Liverpool. Judge Stuart Driver, QC, sentenced him to six years in prison, with an extended five-year license period, meaning he will serve a minimum of four years behind bars. The judge emphasized the severity of the case, particularly highlighting the extreme youth of the intended victims and the disturbing nature of his fantasies. He described Dorta Vinas as a 'committed, predatory paedophile' and ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders Register and adhere to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Judge Driver stated, 'The aggravating feature here is the extreme — and I emphasize the word extreme — youth of the intended victim. That is so grave.' He further remarked that although there was no actual victim, the evidence demonstrated Dorta Vinas's dangerousness and his capacity for cruelty and degradation, which he found deeply concerning. The court's conclusion was that Dorta Vinas poses a significant threat to society and must be kept under strict supervision to prevent any future harm.
