MAN ADMITS RUNNING PAEDOPHILE FORUMS FROM FLAT
Update 09/05/2026: A paedophile from north London who ran dark web forums which shared indecent images of children has been sentenced to six years in prison.Matthew Slate, 36, was a "global moderator" on Olympus, a pro-paedophile forum, and held prominent positions across six other child abuse websites, according to the National Crime Agency (NCA).
He used these platforms for "his own sexual gratification" and to "encourage others to view, share and discuss" crimes against children, a senior NCA investigator said.
Slate, from Wood Green, Haringey, was also handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order on Friday at Wood Green Crown Court.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… A man from north London has admitted to operating dark web forums from his residence, which were used solely for sharing material related to child sexual abuse.
Matthew Slate, aged 36, served as a "global moderator" on a dark web platform called Olympus from April 19, 2024, to February 8, 2025, under the alias Loudechoes.
The defendant admitted to 11 criminal charges at Wood Green Crown Court.
Residing near Alexandra Park, Slate also worked on another illicit dark web site known as Neverland between July 20, 2023, and June 15, 2024, the court was told.
His sentencing has been scheduled for May 8.
He pleaded guilty to distributing over 2,000 indecent images of children, including some classified as Category A the most severe type between July 2023 and August 2025.
Additionally, he collected approximately 57,000 illegal images depicting minors, with more than 10,000 categorized as the most serious abuse images.
Furthermore, Slate admitted to possessing 55 banned images of children as of March 15, 2025.
He denied two counts of participating in organized crime activities and one charge linked to facilitating child sexual exploitation.
Prosecutor Corinne Bramwell told the court that pursuing those charges was not in the "public interest," and requested they be formally dismissed and placed on file.
This decision means no further legal action will be taken against Slate on those counts unless authorized by the Crown Court or Court of Appeal.
Slate’s legal counsel, Adrian Langdale KC, requested that his client be remanded into custody, citing threats resulting from previous media coverage.
The court approved this application.
