WOODFORD GREEN MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT NEAR FINSBURY PARK
A man named José Sepulvida-Gomez, aged 27, residing at Prospect Road, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for a serious sexual assault.
He was found guilty at Blackfriars Crown Court following a five-day trial on June 22.
The incident occurred on the evening of August 30, 2016, when a woman in her 30s attended a house party near Finsbury Park.
The victim went to bed and fell asleep around 1am, believing she was in a safe environment.
However, she was woken around 2am by a man she initially thought was her boyfriend, only to realize she was being sexually assaulted by Sepulvida-Gomez.
She reported the attack to police the following day.
PC Susanna Marri from the Met’s child abuse and sexual offences command stated that Sepulvida-Gomez preyed on a vulnerable woman when she was asleep in her boyfriend’s bed in a place where she felt safe.
She added that the victim had to relive her trauma by giving evidence in court and praised her courage, encouraging others to come forward if they have also experienced sexual assault.
