FIFE MAN'S ABUSE STASH UNCOVERED AFTER ONLINE SEX CHAT WITH '13-YEAR-OLD GIRL'
Matthew Grigg, a 30-year-old man from Burntisland, was found guilty of engaging in sexually explicit communication with what he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.He had sent numerous sexually explicit messages, including asking for a private photo, and conversed over various platforms.
The decoy was part of a vigilante group aimed at catching predators.
During the court proceedings at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, it was revealed that Grigg's online chats included remarks about tattoos and sexual activities.
He also admitted to possessing over 320 images and 47 videos of child abuse, with 27 images and 24 videos classified as the most graphic category.
Police arrested Grigg at his home, where they seized computers containing the illicit material.
He pleaded guilty to attempting to communicate indecently with a minor between July 6 and 12 of the previous year, and possessing indecent images from 2019 to 2022.
The case was adjourned for sentencing on October 23, and Grigg was placed on the Sex Offenders Register pending sentencing.
