In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Arklow, Co Wicklow, a 78-year-old man named Matthew Byrne has been sentenced to three years in prison after admitting to the sexual abuse of a young girl. Matthew Byrne, residing at Notrec, Kilmichael, Arklow, faced charges that he had sexually assaulted the girl on multiple occasions.
