MANCHESTER MAN JAILED FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY AFTER DOG SUFFERS EYE CONDITION
A man from Manchester, Masood Khan, has been sentenced after pleading guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to two dogs, Sasha and Haze, under the Animal Welfare Act.The court disqualified him from keeping all animals for five years and ordered a series of penalties including twelve months of community orders, 10 days of Rehabilitation Activity Requirement, 100 hours of unpaid work, and a £1,000 fine.
Police and Animal Rescue Officers responded to reports concerning two underweight dogs living in poor conditions at Khan's residence on Bankfield Avenue.
Inspector Jessica Pierce detailed her findings, noting the dogs' extreme underweight state, scarring, and untreated eye condition.
Sasha, a female boxer cross, suffered from a protruding, red, and cloudy eye, with initial concerns of glaucoma or ocular tumor; her eye was eventually surgically removed with the owner's consent, and tests confirmed no cancer.
Haze, a pitbull-type, was found to be very underweight and nervous but was gradually gaining weight under RSPCA care.
The court heard evidence including veterinary examinations and inspector testimonies.
The court also learned that Haze was humanely euthanized due to legislation concerning Pitbull types, while Sasha was placed into RSPCA care.
The offender's actions led to a significant animal welfare prosecution, signifying the consequences of neglect and cruelty.
