VICIOUS LEEDS THUG TURNS ON OWN MUM AFTER SHE TELLS HIM TO STOP SAVAGELY BEATING HIS GIRLFRIEND
A Leeds thug who called his own mum a "rat" when she told him to stop battering his girlfriend has been jailed.Mason Murray, 20, has been locked up for two years for a violent attack that took place when he accused his girlfriend of cheating after she was offered a trial shift at a new job.
Prosecutor Olivia Fraser told Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday, March 24 that it was at around 4.15pm on September 3 last year that police received a report stating that Murry was "beating his partner upstairs in a bedroom." The court heard that police arrived to find Murray had left the property with his dog and his partner was still present.
She gave a video-recorded interview describing the assault.
The court heard the woman had locked the bedroom door, but Murray threatened to "break it down," then began kicking her bags, pushed her into drawers, and assaulted her physically, including choking her until she could hardly open her eyes.
During the attack, he called her a "s***" and accused her of cheating.
The victim tried to leave but was forcibly restrained, slapped, punched, and strangled, then threatened with further violence.
Murray took her phone and was later seen leaving his house with a Samurai sword, running into another address and on to Bramley Park.
He was found hiding in a bush but the sword was not recovered.
He admitted to the police that he was "in drink" and had an article with a blade or point.
He was sentenced to two years in prison, with mitigation highlighting his remorse and the positive turning point this offence represented.
