MAN JAILED FOR TERRIFYING PRISON STALKING CAMPAIGN INVOLVING FALSE FIRE ALARMS
Aiden Stevens, aged 25, has been sentenced to four years in prison for stalking a woman by engaging in a malicious campaign that included sending her takeaways and orchestrating false fire brigade responses to her home.Prosecutor Francis Pencheon detailed that Stevens subjected the woman to a frightening ordeal over several months, including an incident where he strangled her for approximately 20 to 30 seconds, nearly causing her to lose consciousness.
Despite being in custody, Stevens continued his harassment, calling the woman around 60 times daily and issuing threats involving takeaways, fires, and ambulance visits.
On one occasion, he falsely reported a fire at her residence, resulting in fire engines and a fire truck arriving on her doorstep.
Additionally, he sent a Snapchat message to her friend under the pseudonym 'HMP's Finest,' threatening to take his own life.
The court heard that Stevens admitted to charges of stalking with fear of violence and strangulation or suffocation, as well as coercive and controlling behaviour.
The judge imposed a four-year prison sentence and a five-year restraining order.
Stevens' pre-sentence report noted some issues, including his departure from the interview and difficulty discussing his childhood, but confirmed he accepted full responsibility for his actions.
