MARTYN WEBSTER FROM WADEBRIDGE JAILED FOR CHILD INDECENCY IMAGES IN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE
In a significant case highlighting the ongoing fight against child exploitation, Martyn Webster, a 47-year-old man now residing on Windmill Road in St Minver, Wadebridge, Cornwall, has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in the distribution of indecent images of children.The incident traces back to July 2020, when Webster was convicted and sentenced following a series of police investigations and legal proceedings.
Webster's criminal activities came to light after authorities executed a search warrant at his residence in Northamptonshire on October 24, 2017.
The police action was prompted by credible information indicating that an indecent photograph had been uploaded from Webster’s address.
During the search, law enforcement officers seized electronic devices belonging to Webster, which subsequently revealed a disturbing collection of indecent images depicting minors.
Further examination of the digital evidence confirmed Webster’s involvement in the distribution of such illicit material.
He faced multiple charges, including four counts of distributing indecent images—specifically, two counts classified as Category B and two as Category C.
These categories denote the severity and nature of the images involved, with Category B images being more explicit than Category C.
Webster chose to plead guilty to these charges during his appearance at Northampton Magistrates' Court.
The case was subsequently brought before Northampton Crown Court for sentencing.
On Monday, July 6, Judge Rebecca Crane handed down a sentence of 22 months imprisonment, reflecting the gravity of his offenses.
In addition to his prison term, Webster was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which aims to restrict his access to minors and prevent any further harm.
He was also ordered to remain on the sex offenders register for a period of ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
As part of the court’s ruling, Webster was required to pay a statutory surcharge of £100.00, contributing to the costs associated with his prosecution.
