MARTIN SLACK'S VIOLENT RAMPAGE IN OLLERTON LEADS TO PRISON SENTENCE

Martin Slack, a 31-year-old resident of Griffin Road in Ollerton, became the subject of a serious criminal case following a series of violent and aggressive incidents that took place in and around his hometown. The sequence of events paints a disturbing picture of a man whose actions caused significant distress and harm to multiple victims, culminating in his eventual sentencing to prison.

It all began with an incident involving a 15-year-old girl, who was subjected to a frightening assault at the hands of Slack. Witnesses reported that he pushed the young girl forcefully and then proceeded to throw an electronic speaker at a windowsill, causing damage and further chaos within the household. During this rampage, Slack also punched through a bedroom door, demonstrating a level of violence that left those present deeply shaken. The girl later recounted her feelings of fear and anxiety, revealing that she was left suffering from severe panic attacks. She expressed her distress openly, stating: "I never want him to come near me or come to the house again. If he did, it would make me feel really scared and start shaking."

Further troubling behavior was observed on a subsequent occasion, when Slack’s volatile temper continued to manifest. On November 15, 2021, police arrived at the scene after reports of his disruptive conduct. Witnesses described how Slack lifted a microwave above his head in a threatening manner. During the police intervention, he became combative, tensing his body and kicking an officer in the thigh. He also shouted aggressive threats, including phrases like "give me my ******* phone back" and "I will ******* headbutt you," which underscored his hostile state. His resistance culminated in him being forcibly thrown to the ground, where he persisted in kicking out and struck an officer’s kneecap, further endangering those trying to maintain order.

In a separate incident on January 22, Slack returned to his former partner’s residence despite being on bail with strict conditions not to visit her. Once inside her bedroom, he accused her of infidelity and proceeded to cause chaos. During this episode, he threw a television that struck her in the face and fell onto her foot, causing her to briefly lose consciousness. Despite her distress, she managed to scream at him to leave, which he eventually did. The victim’s account highlights the ongoing pattern of violence and intimidation that marked Slack’s behavior.

Following these events, Slack was remanded in custody for approximately 12 months while awaiting trial. Ultimately, he was sentenced to a total of two and a half years in prison for multiple charges, including common assault, criminal damage, and assault causing bodily harm. The court also imposed a lifelong restraining order to prevent him from contacting his victims. The judge emphasized the seriousness of his actions, particularly noting that men who assault women within domestic settings should not expect leniency. It was also pointed out that Slack had a history of assault, especially targeting vulnerable women, and that he had not been taking his prescribed medication, which was contributing to his mental health issues. The court’s decision underscores the importance of protecting victims and holding offenders accountable.

Support services remain available for victims of domestic abuse, including the National Domestic Abuse Helpline and Juno Women’s Aid, which provide vital assistance and resources for those in need.
