CRAIG BROOKS FROM OLLERTON JAILED FOR VOYEURISM AND HARASSMENT IN MANSFIELD
In a recent case heard at Mansfield Crown Court, Craig Brooks, aged 47 and a resident of Ollerton, was found guilty of serious voyeurism charges after he was caught secretly filming a woman as she was undressing inside her own bedroom. The incident, which took place in February 2018, shocked the local community and highlighted the disturbing nature of his criminal behavior.Brooks appeared before the court to face the charges, admitting to the offence of voyeurism. The court sentenced him to a prison term of 46 weeks, emphasizing the severity of his actions. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of seven years, a measure intended to monitor and prevent further offenses of this nature.
Prior to this incident, Brooks had a history of inappropriate conduct. In March 2016, he was involved in another troubling case where he, then aged 46 and residing at Market Place in Ollerton, admitted to harassing a female by repeatedly contacting her via text messages. Despite being warned by police to cease his communications, Brooks continued his harassment, which led to his arrest and subsequent court appearance.
At that time, he was sentenced to six weeks in jail, though the sentence was suspended for 12 months. The court also imposed a two-year restraining order to prevent him from making further contact with the victim. As part of his punishment, Brooks was ordered to pay £100 in compensation to the victim, reflecting the court’s recognition of the distress caused by his actions.
The cases against Craig Brooks underscore ongoing concerns about personal safety and the importance of legal measures to protect individuals from harassment and voyeuristic offenses. His sentencing serves as a reminder of the serious consequences faced by those who violate privacy and engage in criminal behavior in the Ollerton area and beyond.
