CHILD RAPIST JAILED FOR 'TWO YEARS OF ABUSE'
A CHILD rapist who gave his victim money after abusing her has been sent to prison.Dorchester Crown Court was told how Martin Royston Williams abused an 11-year-old girl on several occasions.
Williams, 44, of no fixed abode, had previously pleaded guilty to indecent assault, rape and two charges of indecency with a child in Weymouth.
The offences took place in Weymouth between December 2000 and December 2002.
The now adult victim only revealed her abuse several years later.
The victim estimated 20 to 30 occasions of abuse over two years.
A pattern of abuse developed, and Williams did not remember raping his victim but accepted it had happened.
He was found to have been suffering from mental health problems at the time of arrest and was later admitted to the Forston Clinic in Charlton Down.
Williams has shown remorse, giving 'full and frank admission', and has expressed a desire to undertake the sexual offenders' treatment programme.
Judge Roger Jarvis sentenced Williams to seven years' imprisonment for the rape, and three years each for the other offences, with the sentences running concurrently.
The judge remarked on the long-lasting effect childhood experience can have on individuals and highlighted that the victim was a very young child.
