DRIVER JAILED FOR 'VICIOUS' ROAD RAGE ATTACK ON ELDERLY MAN
A man who assaulted an elderly driver by repeatedly punching him in the face after cornering him with his vehicle in Nottinghamshire has been sentenced to prison.Martin Roberts, 39 years old, followed his victim closely before forcing him to halt his car on Ollerton Road, Edwinstowe, on July 1 of the previous year.
The suspect then approached the vehicle and struck the elderly man multiple times through an open window, resulting in visible blood and bruising.
Roberts, residing on Little John Avenue in Warsop, was detained the following day after authorities identified his license plate.
He admitted to causing actual bodily harm and received a nine-month jail term at Nottingham Crown Court.
Nottinghamshire Police characterized Roberts as a physically large and forceful individual who carried out a brutal and unnecessary assault on a senior citizen, who was nearly twice his age and unable to defend himself.
The police also noted the injuries sustained by the victim, including bleeding and bruises.
The case advanced after Roberts pleaded guilty, culminating in a sentence that reflects the seriousness of his actions.
