In September 2017, a man from Edwinstowe was sentenced to six years in prison for offenses related to grooming and sexually abusing a nine-year-old girl.

Graham Shelbourne, aged 52, of Newbery Close, befriended the young girl and bought her gifts before sexually assaulting her, Nottingham Crown Court heard.

Shelbourne was arrested on 30 April and faced charges including sexually assaulting a girl under 13 by touching, attempting to sexually assault her by touching, and inciting her to engage in sexual activity.

Initially denying the charges, Shelbourne appeared in court but was ultimately convicted after a four-day trial.
