ACCRINGTON MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO PARTNER ASSAULT AFTER DRUNKEN ROW
A man identified as Martin France was involved in an assault on his partner following an argument during a day of drinking.The incident was witnessed by a neighbour who saw France holding his partner, who was only wearing shorts, and preventing her from leaving the house.
The neighbour observed France grabbing her legs and dragging her back into the property.
The incident happened at Blackburn Magistrates' Court was told that France was seen leaning over his partner while holding her hair and stopping her from leaving.
The neighbour saw the woman lying on the floor, trying to cover herself as France appeared to be dragging her out of the house.
The neighbour managed to get the woman a top from his address.
During court proceedings, Scott Parker, the prosecutor, stated that the witness and his partner heard banging and screaming, and upon investigation, saw the woman on the floor and France holding her hair and preventing her from leaving.
France's mitigating lawyer mentioned that the victim, who had not made a statement, was described by France as the love of his life.
They had been drinking in Skipton and returning home when the argument occurred, with alcohol consumption being a factor.
Court documents show that France, aged 40 and from Blackburn Road, Accrington, pleaded guilty to assault and was remanded on bail for a pre-sentence report, with no previous convictions noted.
The incident was characterized as out of character for France.
