CONVICTED PAEDOPHILE FOUND LIVING IN ACCRINGTON WITH CHILDREN
A convicted child sex offender was found living at an address where there were four children under the age of 14.
Blackburn Magistrates' Court heard that although the children's mother knew about Jason Jenkinson's previous convictions, him living at her address had not been approved by social services.
Jenkinson, 54, who gave an address in Prestwich, Manchester, but previously lived in Sharples Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
The breach was having contact with a child and failing to comply with notification requirements by failing to register the Sharples Street address.
He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report, and a condition of his bail is that he does not enter Accrington.
Zulekha Bhuta, prosecuting, said Jenkinson had been made subject to the sexual harm prevention order and notification requirements for 10 years in January 2023 following convictions for sexual activity with a female child under the age of 16 and engaging in sexual communication with a child.
Police were called to the Sharples Street address on January 6 in relation to a cause for concern for the welfare of children at the address.
When they spoke to Jenkinson, he gave a false name and the officers left.
"They came back following further reports of a man and woman fighting inside the house," said Miss Bhuta.
"The police conducted further checks and found he had given a false name, and he was subject to the sexual harm prevention order.
He did not have permission from social services to live at the address with children and had also not registered that he was living there."
