2008: MAN JAILED FOR INJURING BABY
2008: A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to 27 months in prison after admitting to causing serious injuries to a three-month-old infant.Martin Edge of Glebe Street, Leigh, was responsible for injuring the baby by forcefully throwing him against a wall, resulting in a fractured skull.
Following the incident, Edge took the infant to hospital, where a CT scan confirmed the head injury.
Further examinations revealed that the child had at least four fractured ribs on the right side and three on the left, injuries that dated back at least two weeks.
During the court hearing at Liverpool Crown Court, it was revealed that Edge initially told authorities that the injury occurred when he shook the baby and his head hit the wall.
He later claimed that the skull fracture happened when the baby hit his head on a settee.
Edge pleaded guilty to two charges of causing grievous bodily harm and one count of child cruelty.
