MARTIN DAVIDSON OF LOCHGELLY INVOLVED IN ANIMAL FIGHTING AND CRUELTY CASES IN LOCHORE AND LOCHGELLY

Martin Davidson, born on December 10, 1995, and residing at 23 Abbotsford Road, Lochore, Lochgelly KY5 8DT, has been at the center of a disturbing investigation into animal cruelty and illegal dog fighting activities.

His involvement came to light after authorities uncovered evidence of his training and use of dogs for violent baiting of wild animals, including badgers, in the Lochgelly area.

Davidson’s actions included the brutal training of four dogs, which he used to participate in illegal animal fighting.

He kept videos on his devices showing his dogs viciously attacking foxes, and he shamelessly posed for photographs alongside injured or deceased animals, displaying a blatant disregard for animal welfare.

These images and videos served as critical evidence in the case against him.

The investigation was initiated after the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) received intelligence suggesting Davidson’s involvement in such activities.

An undercover inspector from the SSPCA’s special investigations unit obtained a search warrant for Davidson’s residence, leading to a thorough search of his property.

During the raid, authorities discovered the four dogs involved in the case.

Three of these animals were male brindle-colored bull lurchers named Tramp, Mojo, and Sid.

The fourth was a female Staffordshire bull terrier named Lady, characterized by her white and tan coat.

All four dogs were found injured, with injuries consistent with the brutal activities they had been subjected to, such as fighting and baiting.

The dogs were immediately taken into SSPCA care, where they are now undergoing rehabilitation to recover from their injuries.

Further investigation revealed that Davidson had failed to provide veterinary treatment for his dogs’ severe facial injuries.

He admitted during questioning that none of his dogs had been registered with a veterinarian, nor had they received any medical attention to alleviate their suffering.

This neglect highlighted his blatant disregard for the health and welfare of the animals under his care.

Authorities also uncovered a range of animal fighting paraphernalia at Davidson’s residence.

This included hunting gear, blood-stained wellington boots, and a spot lamp used for night-time hunting with dogs, a practice known as lamping.

Multiple images were found on Davidson’s devices showing his dogs gripping and attacking animals such as foxes and badgers, often at night.

These images depicted the dogs with fresh injuries, further evidence of their involvement in illegal activities.

In interviews, Davidson admitted that the four dogs were not registered with a vet and had not received any treatment for their injuries.

Experts from the SSPCA confirmed that the injuries seen in the photographs were consistent with animal fighting, particularly involving badgers and foxes.

The evidence painted a disturbing picture of a man who callously used his dogs for violent and illegal pursuits, with little regard for the animals’ suffering or the law.

Sheriff Alastair Brown addressed Davidson directly during the court proceedings, condemning his actions.

He stated, “You kept dogs for fighting and you kept them in conditions which were unsuitable to the extent that you weren’t meeting their needs properly.

It’s been well known, because it gets publicity, that hunting with dogs, which appears to have been the reason for getting these dogs, is illegal.

Beyond that, it’s perfectly clear to anyone with a grain of sense that there is substantial public disapproval of hunting with dogs, of dog fighting and failing to take care of dogs within your care.

What you were doing was entirely unregulated – keeping dogs for fighting is reprehensible as well as criminal, and keeping animals in conditions in which they are harmed is deplorable.” Despite the severity of his actions, Sheriff Brown chose not to impose a prison sentence, citing Davidson’s previous jail time for unrelated matters.

Instead, he was sentenced to 160 hours of unpaid community work and was banned from owning or keeping any animals for five years, a restriction that will last until October 2025.

Additionally, in a separate incident in September 2019, authorities found Davidson in possession of two air weapons at his home without the necessary certificates.

He pleaded guilty to this offense as well, and Sheriff James MacDonald ordered a community payback order requiring 60 hours of unpaid work.

Martin Davidson’s case has garnered significant attention in Lochgelly and Lochore, highlighting ongoing concerns about illegal animal fighting and cruelty in the region.

Animal welfare advocates continue to call for stricter enforcement and harsher penalties to deter such barbaric practices and protect vulnerable animals from suffering at the hands of individuals like Davidson.
