MARK SHAH CAUGHT IN DEWSBURY RAILWAY STATION SCANDAL: PREDATOR TRAPPED BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS

In a disturbing case that unfolded at Dewsbury Railway Station, a man identified as Mark Shah was confronted by vigilant paedophile hunters after he believed he was about to meet a 12-year-old girl for sexual activity. The incident, which took place in June of this year, highlights the ongoing efforts of community groups to protect children from online predators.

According to court proceedings, Shah had initiated contact with a profile named “Summer” on an internet messaging platform. Unbeknownst to him, this profile was not operated by a real young girl but was a decoy created by an organization called Silent Justice, dedicated to catching individuals attempting to engage in illegal sexual activities with minors.

Prosecutor James Bourne-Arton explained to Leeds Crown Court that Shah was immediately made aware through messages that “Summer” was only 12 years old. Despite this knowledge, Shah continued to communicate with her, asking about her whereabouts and revealing that she lived near Chesterfield. The messages took a disturbing turn when Shah inquired about her sexual experiences and sent a photograph of a penis, requesting a picture of “her boobs.”

Although “Summer” refused to send such images, she arranged to meet Shah at Dewsbury Railway Station on June 22. When asked what they would do during their meeting, Shah reportedly responded, “have sex if you want,” indicating his intent to engage in sexual activity with the minor.

On the day of the planned meeting, Shah was waiting at the location he had specified. However, instead of the young girl, he was approached and challenged by two men from Silent Justice. The group had already alerted the police, who swiftly responded and arrested Shah at the scene.

During police interviews, Shah claimed that he did not genuinely believe the girl was 12 and denied any intention of meeting her for sexual purposes. However, authorities found evidence on his phone, including searches related to “super sexy teens,” which cast doubt on his claims.

Sohail Khan, representing Shah, stated that his client initially pleaded not guilty but later decided to accept responsibility for his actions. Shah expressed remorse for his conduct. It was noted that Shah, 43, of Stonehyrst Avenue, Crackenedge, Dewsbury, had no prior convictions related to sexual offenses. He described his time in custody as a “salutary experience.”

Ultimately, Shah pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming. He was sentenced to three years and two months in prison and was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely.

Judge Tom Bayliss QC addressed the court, stating, “You have no relevant convictions but unhappily you have a sexual interest in children which became manifest on June 22 when you went to Dewsbury Railway Station. You thought to meet a 12-year-old child for sex, but unknown to you, the child was a vigilante who exposed your intentions. Your actions mark you as a menace to children, and this court will take appropriate measures to protect the public.”
